When you pick a file, it is read into your browser's memory, processed on your CPU, and written back to your downloads folder. Our server serves this page and nothing else; there is no endpoint that could receive your footage even by accident.
That matters because video is the most personal file type there is: your kids, your clients, your screen. The mainstream tools hold it on their disks during processing and ask you to trust their retention policy. Local processing replaces the policy with physics.

- Does my video really never upload?
- Correct. VidClip ships FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly; your file is read into your browser's memory, processed on your CPU, and saved back to disk. Our server only serves the page. You can unplug your network after loading and everything still works.
- What formats can I convert?
- Anything FFmpeg can decode — MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and most others — converting to universal H.264 MP4, animated GIF, or MP3 audio.
- Is there a file size limit?
- The free tier caps input at 200 MB. Pro removes the cap; the practical limit becomes your device's memory, since processing happens locally.
- Why is processing slower than upload-based sites?
